Subject:   $20,000 in Scholarship Money Available!

 

Faculty members, advisors and counselors are asked to encourage students to apply for nearly $20,000 in scholarships and awards, which

will be awarded during the spring 2007 semester. Academic excellence and community service are two of the criteria for recognition of

students. Included are:

 

Jane S. Abrahams Award for Excellence – This competitive award of $1,000 recognizes an academically outstanding graduating student

receiving an associate degree who has performed community service and demonstrated success in the face of adversity while a student at the

College. The application deadline is February 9, 2007.

 

Jane S. Abrahams Community Service Award – Up to four members of the College community are eligible to each receive a $500 award in

recognition of outstanding volunteer service. Partisan political activities and religious service are ineligible; however, nonreligious activities that take place in a religious setting will be considered. The application deadline is February 9, 2007. This award is open to students, faculty, administrative and classified/confidential staff.

 

Community College of Philadelphia Foundation Scholars Program – Students who achieve success in academic and community endeavors

despite barriers will be recognized with merit scholarships that range from $1,000 to $2,000 annually. Scholarships are applied to tuition at

Community College of Philadelphia during the 2007/2008 academic year. The application deadline is February 26, 2007.

 

Thomas W. Langfitt, Jr. Award for Volunteer Community Leadership – Full-time students who are committed to volunteerism and academically successful despite barriers are eligible to apply for a $1,000 scholarship. Students must be graduating with an associate degree in May 2007. Funds must be used in pursuit of educational or career goals. The application deadline is February 26, 2007.

 

College Scholarship for Academic Excellence – This competitive scholarship, with a maximum annual award of $1,500, is given to a

graduating student who has demonstrated scholarly and general achievement at the College.  Student must plan to enroll for full-time study at a four-year accredited college or university in fall 2007. The application deadline is February 26, 2007.
